"A beautiful campus overlooking the historic Delaware River. A tradition-rich liberal arts college. A selective enrollment small enough to make you feel like you belong to a real community. A college large enough to give you unique opportunities across the arts, sciences and engineering. This is Lafayette. Cur Non is our rallying cry and it means ‘Why not?’: Why not have the courage and confidence to take risks, connect ideas and care deeply about your community. Why not engage in every aspect of campus life to create your own destiny. Why not use your intellect, talent, energy, and humanity to find your place in the world." (Lafayette At A Glance)
Lafayette’s vision to create a dynamic atmosphere that embraces exploration, personal connection, and community is an ideal fit for our SHE-CAN scholars and is the reason why Lafayette is one of our strongest partners today. With several Rwandan and Cambodian SHE-CAN scholars in their student body, Lafayette goes above and beyond to create a welcoming environment for these young women and provide the support that they need to achieve their dreams. Our scholars are leaders on campus, have travelled internationally on humanitarian expeditions, and shared a piece of Rwandan culture by performing a traditional dance at Lafayette’s Intercultural Day.
We are equally impressed by Lafayette’s commitment to deepening their blossoming relationship with SHE-CAN. In fact, Eugene Gabay from Lafayette Admissions traveled to Cambodia in 2015 to meet each of our SHE-CAN scholar candidates. We are thankful to have Lafayette on-board as part of our School Coalition and we look forward to watching our scholars thrive there in the years to come.
