Yvonne graduated from the Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology in Kigali, Rwanda, where she was presented the Founders Award for her outstanding academic performance by Rwandan President, Paul Kagame. In addition, during the 2012-2013 school year, Yvonne was elected Head Girl of the student body. Outside of school, Yvonne started a public health club for children where she taught healthy living. Noticing that many of the children did not have shoes, she worked with ADRA to arrange a donation of 1100 pairs of TOMS Shoes to the local elementary school. She is a mentor in Girl Up Rwanda, a UN organization focused on empowering women and girls. Yvonne is a pre-med student and is interested in infectious disease and global health. With her passions for global health and women’s education and empowerment, she interned at Partners in Health (PIH) over the 2014-15 winter break. In June 2015 she interned at KOMERA in Boston, before returning to Rwanda to intern with PIH.
