Class of 2020
Assumpta Gasana is a student at Bucknell University studying Civil Engineering and French. She recently participated in two different competitions with a fellow Rwandan student, one being BizPitch 2018 where they won the audience favorite award and world change maker award. They brought the project idea to another very competitive grant from schools across the country called “Davis Project for Peace” where they won too. The project they called “Sci-Touche” will be implemented in Rwanda starting Summer 2019. Assumpta did an internship, the summer after her sophomore year, with Rwanda Housing Authority (RHA) where she used the opportunity to network with people with the same career path as well as understanding the current situation and how she can participate in Rwanda’s development. Assumpta used a study abroad program to boost her French skills because she believes that languages helps us communicate and makes working together easier in any career. This summer ‘19, she will be interning at John Moriarty & Associates of Virginia, LLC where she will be working on a construction project in DC. I believe that you can always make a change and it all starts from home, Rwanda for me and that is why I started there now.
