About Gettysburg
Founded in 1832, Gettysburg College is a highly selective four-year residential college of liberal arts and sciences with a strong academic tradition. Alumni include Rhodes Scholars, a Nobel laureate, and other distinguished scholars. The college enrolls 2,600 undergraduate students and is located on a 200-acre campus adjacent to the Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania.
There are no bystanders at Gettysburg. Students are engaged: they see a need and fill it. The mission of SHE-CAN aligns with Gettysburg's commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive learning environment that prepares students to become socially responsible citizens and leaders. Partnership
Branded as a global college that prepares students to be active leaders and participants in a changing world, Gettysburg is an ideal college for a SHE-CAN partnership. Gettysburg accepted Vuochnear Ly, a member of our first cohort of Cambodian scholars, who started her freshman year as an International Relations major in Fall 2016. Irene Mugeni was accepted to Gettysburg in 2017 as an Economics major. We know that Gettysburg’s diverse demographic, commitment to building global leaders, and welcoming community offers the education that our emerging leaders like Vuochnear and Irene need.
Within close proximity to internships in Washington, D.C., Gettysburg is perfect for our scholars who are interested in government and diplomatic work. Located next-door to one of the most historically significant battlefields also makes it a true U.S. experience for our scholars. We look forward to seeing Gettysburg prepare and launch our scholars into impactful international careers in the years to come. |
