SHE-CAN (Supporting Her Education Changes A Nation) is a global organization that transforms the lives of bright young women from post-conflict countries by helping them win scholarships to U.S. universities, providing them with leadership training, and pairing them with U.S. mentor teams. We have helped 50+ young women from Rwanda, Cambodia, Liberia and Afghanistan win full scholarships at top U.S. colleges. Full-Time Communications Associate
SHE-CAN is seeking a full-time Communications Associate to join our growing team in Mill Valley by working directly with the Development Manager to manage all communication and PR responsibilities. Your primary responsibilities will be public relations and social media. You will also help the Development Manager manage marketing materials, website development, and related projects as needed.

Responsibilities
- Public Relations: Build national visibility of the SHE-CAN program and brand by securing traditional and new media publicity. Collaborate with SHE-CAN College Coalition PR contacts on story ideas and social media strategies to drive awareness and create interest from other schools.
- Brand Identity: Manage all aspects of the SHE-CAN brand identity and ensure that the principles and aesthetics are captured in all external communications.
- Social Media: Assist Development Manager with management of social media outlets including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn including creating engaging content, posting scholars submissions and continuously improving strategy by capturing and analyzing social data/metrics, insights and best practices.
- Blog Program: Manage the blog program by working closely with scholars to schedule, develop and edit their personal stories on topics including leadership development, internships and college life.
- Marketing Materials: Coordinate design needs including fliers, invitations, SHE-CAN’s annual R2.0 gala event materials, etc. with the graphic designer.
- Website Development: Maintain and update the organization’s website with new photos, news articles, event announcements, press releases, newsletters, etc.
- Newsletters: Create, edit and format the weekly CHIT-CHAT newsletter, biannual fundraising appeals, annual report, and other public announcements as needed.
- Photography: Capture photos at SHE-CAN community events and maintain organization of all images in filing system.
- Must be an excellent writer and have a passion for storytelling
- Experienced brand manager with marketing experience
- Must have experience with MailChimp, social media analytics, blogging, website development, photography using a DSLR camera
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Resourceful, organized, excellent attention to detail, personable
- Technology savvy. Has capacity to bring new technology ideas to our program
- Capacity to work and thrive in a growing, fast-paced organization with a collaborative environment
- This is a 40-hour a week salaried position
- Job requires you work Monday-Friday in the Mill Valley office. As a global organization, many calls, meetings and email correspondence occur during the weekends and in evenings, and you will need to be accessible and occasionally come in outside those stated hours.
