Class of 2026
Kimheat Chheav will be attending Babson College in the fall of 2022. She was born in a village in Siem Reap. Her parents are farmers and she has three sisters and two brothers; Kimheat is the first of her siblings to pursue a college degree. At the age of five, Kimheat was selected to study at Jay Pritzker Academy, a rigorous school where she studied both American and Cambodian curriculums. Kimheat was selected for two study abroad programs in Australia and Singapore. She got to experience the high quality of education these countries provide for their students and hopes that Cambodia will achieve the same education in the future. She was elected four times as the class prefect and class representative in her middle school and high school years.
Kimheat volunteers at a youth community called Spean Chivit by translating social media posts so that young Cambodians are able to read and be aware of certain social issues. She also helps girls in her village by teaching them to read and write in both English and Khmer. After graduating from high school, Kimheat works with university students and adults to help them learn English as their second language. In her community, many women are housewives and are dependent on their husbands and adult sons. Kimheat dreams of becoming a change maker by helping women find their role in society. After college, she hopes to inspire Cambodian women to become entrepreneurs of all kinds and lead them to establish their own businesses using their creativity and passion.
