Bio: Myra Wamah attends Muhlenberg College and was born in Gbarnga, a city in Bong County, Liberia. When Myra was five years old, her father died, leaving her and her five siblings with their mother. In 2009, Myra was fortunately chosen to go to Christ Children’s Home, where she started school for the very first time and completed her primary education. She later went to St. Martin’s Catholic High School, where she completed her secondary education and graduated with honors as the third top student in her class. When she is not in school and not preoccupied by other local activities, Myra enjoys spending her time reading novels and watching movies. Myra is the only person in her family to pursue a college degree. Myra and her family have been through a lot, but despite all of those hurdles, Myra believes in herself and wants to use her education to create positive change in her country’s health and educational sector, specifically by lowering Liberia’s high rates of poverty and illiteracy.
On campus, Myra is a member of the International Students Union, Women in Stem, and the DiscipleMakers Christian Fellowship Club. She is passionate about quality health and education. She believes that the growth of all nations depends on how well and how informed the citizens are, and wants to see that accomplished in Liberia someday. Myra has participated in many community service projects in Liberia such as blood pressure screening and raising awareness of COVID-19 and other diseases. When the pandemic began, Myra carried out an awareness campaign about the virus on social media and through the radio to help prevent its spread. Along with her sisters at CCH, Myra created the Women Period Project, where they educated young community girls and women on hygienic practices during their period. Myra hopes to form a multipurpose organization and continue her work after graduation to ensure a healthy country and healthy lives. Highlights From Myra's Past Work Experience:
GPA: 3.70 Languages Spoken: English and Kpelleh
