Our Impact
SHE-CAN began in Rwanda in 2011. Now, ten years later, SHE-CAN operates in four countries and has helped 82 women win full-ride scholarships at 30 schools. Over $21 million dollars in scholarship funds have been invested directly into low-income women in post-conflict nations who have the potential to become future leaders.
36 of these women have now graduated and are already leap-frogging into top positions back home. One is the personal assistant to a top female government minister in Rwanda; another is the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Infastructure; another is leading a division of an impactful NGO. All are making waves, building careers as powerful change-agents. Even those still in college are making waves - scoring coveted internships, organizing clubs on campus and taking on the roles of international student ambassadors. Each is ready to fight for women’s rights and be a role model for millions of young women who are discouraged from reaching their potential.

SHE-CAN's impact on the world has been influential:
|
In 2021, SHE-CAN expanded into its fourth country: Guatemala. SHE-CAN is the first program there that gives low-income women access to a U.S. college education. SHE-CAN plans to expand into 2 more post-conflict countries by 2025.
Numbers don’t lie: SHE-CAN’s impact on the world has been measurable and significant. And it continues to grow, faster and bigger each year, like a snowball of love and hope.
