Peipei Soeung will be attending Dartmouth College in Fall 2022. Peipei was born in a small town in Battambang province where her mother’s mango farm is located. When Peipei was four years old, her mother decided to move to the city so that Peipei could pursue an education.
At 15, Peipei volunteered to teach English to students in rural area who couldn’t afford to learn otherwise. Six months later, she was given a paid internship offer to teach English at USA International School. Throughout high school, Peipei participated in various competitions and programs, and the Learning Across Borders (LAB) program led her to discover her passion for the environment. Following this, in October of 2020, she started an environmental advocacy campaign called SAFE (Social Advocacy For Environment) that works on promoting awareness of global environmental and animal issues. Having noticed that the environmental field is often disregarded in Cambodia, Peipei hopes to change that after earning her degree. With her passion for advocacy, she wants to start a career in Cambodia that will open doors for other people who share her passion in the environmental field. |
