Phidor Kong: Seeking an Environmental Internship

Bio: Phidor Kong attends Beloit College with a double major in Political Science & Environmental Justice and Citizenship. She is currently studying abroad in two different countries in Europe, Finland and England, to exchange her academic experiences in environmental politics and policy as well as exchanging cultures.
In 2021, Phidor was awarded the Jane Quisenberry Wirtz and W. Willard Wirtz Endowed Scholarship by the Department of Political Science for her exceptional leadership during her tenure at Beloit College. As a recognition of her academic excellence, Phidor was also selected to become a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha, the only national honor society for political science in the U.S. Phidor has always been passionate about policymaking, politics, and environmental protection—believing that creating environmentally friendly politics and policies with effective implementation will better the world. She has actively researched and interned in different institutions. Last summer, she worked with the Future Forum to study Cambodia's existing policies on natural resource management. She authored a chapter for their book and made policy recommendations for improving the effectiveness of Cambodia's natural resource management law and policy implementation. She interned at Oxfam Novib Cambodia to conduct a research project in a natural resource governance program: Advancing CSOs’ Capacity to Enhancing Sustainability Success. On campus, beside joining clubs such as the International Students Club, the Model UN Club, the Outdoor Environmental Club, the Photography Club, and the Investment Club, Phidor worked as an research assistant for the Department of Political Science researching on the freedom of expression and expatriate justices in Africa. Phidor has additional experiences working in environmental protection and community development with NGOs before coming to the U.S. Highlights From Phidor's Past Work Experience:
