Class of 2024 |
Tarlee Dahn is the first SHE-CAN scholar to attend Babson College, our newest coalition school. Tarlee graduated from high school as valedictorian, continuing on to the University of Liberia to study biology with an emphasis in environmental science. Tarlee is concerned about environmental issues, and she also continuously advocates for justice and women’s rights in Liberia.
Before coming to campus in the U.S,, Tarlee worked in the field at the Paramount Young Women Initiative on a gender-based violence project which was sponsored by the European Union through OXFAM Liberia. Tarlee also completed a finance internship at ActionAid Liberia in 2018. She has been a volunteer with ActionAid Liberia for many years, helping to spearhead the '16 Days of Activism' through the advocacy group Safe Cities for Women and working to coordinate young women from universities across Liberia to promote gender-responsive public services. Focused on raising awareness about gender-based violence, she promoted their cause through local radio talk shows, ran workshops in high schools, and conducted community engagement to openly discuss these issues with the public. Tarlee plans to improve environmental safety through the implementation of sustainability programs and strong environmental laws in Liberia that would promote citizens’ well-being. On campus, Tarlee is a member of the sustainability club, which strives to engage and empower students to be leaders in sustainability. Tarlee is also working with a group of students from her entrepreneurship class to launch a business venture that is giving her the experience of Babson’s Entrepreneurial Thought & Action® and the nature of business as an integrated enterprise. |
