About the University of Portland
The University of Portland cultivates the mind and heart in equal measure, a hallmark of their belief in educating the whole person. A private Catholic university guided by the Congregation of Holy Cross, UP is located in a quiet residential neighborhood minutes from downtown Portland, affording students all the opportunities of a large city. Through their College of Arts and Sciences and professional schools of business, education, engineering, and nursing, UP cultivates a culture of open-minded inquiry and enthusiastically ventures into the unknown, engaging in critical thinking and crucial conversations.
Inhabiting a unique place at the intersection of knowledge, reason, and faith, the education you’ll find at UP is rigorous, enriching, holistic, and thoroughly transformational. UP's approach is intimate and intensely personal, and their impact can be seen in communities all over the world—in the ethical mindset they foster, in the service they perform, in their commitment to social justice, and in the purposeful lives their graduates go on to lead.
We are excited to announce the addition of the University of Portland to the SHE-CAN Coalition for 2017. At UP, our SHE-CAN scholars will explore who they are and who they want to be. Scholars can pursue one of over 40 different academic programs and engage in extraordinary opportunities to cultivate their best self within a close-knit community. UP’s campus provides the best of both worlds, situated in a quiet neighborhood on a bluff above the Willamette River and only a short drive from Portland’s city center. With the addition of UP to our Coalition, we are expanding our presence in the Pacific Northwest.
